Parliamentary committee reviews schemes

Bhopal: The Central Parliamentary Committee reviewed the progress of the ongoing rural development schemes of Central government in the state. The committee headed by MP Prahlad Patel is on a tour of the state. Prahlad Patel directed to ensure regular and timely payment of MNREGA wages and social security pension. Central Parliamentary Committee comprised MP Chintaman Wanag, Jugalkisore Sharma, Ladu Kishore Swain, Yashwant Singh, Vijay Kumar Hanshdag, Mahendra Singh Mehra and Vijay Lakshmi Sadu was present. The Committee visited Chhatarpur, Damoh and Sagar districts.

Patel said that Samagra Swachchhata Mission is the most ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he took personal interest in it. He lauded that Gram Panchayats in the state are gradually becoming open defecation. He directed to address the problem of water in backward regions of Bundelkhand by chalking out an action plan and within time-limit. Patel said banks should evince more interest in extending loans to new people.

Chief Secretary Anthony DeSa informed that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan activate ‘Gramoday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan’ in entire state through personal interest. He informed that about 1.50 lakh officers and employees were trained for Abhiyan. About 28 lakh people were associated through rallies, meetings, Prabhat Pheri and publicity. Aadhar Seeding of about 44 lakh people has been done on Samagra and MNREGA Portal. The Chief Secretary urged for early clearance to state government’s proposal to increase MNREGA wages from Rs 167 per day Rs 200 per day.

Principal Secretary Agriculture Rajesh Rajora informed about crop insurance scheme in the state. Representatives of Bank of India, State Bank of India and Central Bank also spoke on the occasion.
