Bhopal: Procurement of about 40 lakh metric tonne paddy is expected in the state. Necessary preparations are being made for the procurement activity.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the preparations for procurement of paddy, jwar and bajra in the state on Friday. It was informed that paddy procurement is being started in Gwalior and Chambal divisions from October 27. The date for other divisions will be decided soon.
Chouhan obtained detailed information regarding procurement work to be carried out in the state. He instructed senior officials of Food, Co-operatives and Agriculture departments that procurement related works should be accomplished systematically. Instructions should be given to complete these tasks properly by entrusting responsibility to the required staff. There should be no inconvenience to the farmers. The registration work and the number of the procurement centres should be determined in such a way that social distancing is also followed to enable farmers to sell crops in a safe environment. Discussions were held in the meeting as regard to the procurement arrangements, payment of amount on support price to farmers and storage of procured crop.
Principal Secretary Food Faiz Ahmed Qidwai informed that there has been a significant increase in the number of registrations in the state as compared to the last year. Registration process has been carried out till October 15 for procurement in the state.
Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Agriculture Production Commissioner K.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Health Mohammad Suleman, Principal Secretary Agriculture Ajit Kesri, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Faiz Ahmed Qidwai, Principal Secretary Energy Sanjay Dubey, Commissioner Public Relations Sudam Khade, OSD Chief Minister’s Office Makrand Deuskar were present at the meeting.
