Bhopal: The winter session of Madhya Pradesh assembly commencing on December 17 is likely stormy because by then, the Congress party would celebrate first anniversary of formation of government in Madhya Pradesh. During the session, the Congress government would have a list of achievements, which it has accomplished in past one year. They also include a number of promises listed in the Vachan Patra (manifesto) of the Congress party released before assembly elections.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath has asked his cabinet colleagues to get prepared with the list of promises fulfilled in past one year, while the BJP legislators led by Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargav are prepared on the fronts the State government has failed in past year.
Besides, the major issue would be cancellation of BJP MLA Prahlad Singh Lodhi. After Lodhi was punished by the court in connection to an old case in which Lodhi and his associated had assaulted a tahsildar in the district. On November 7, Madhya Pradesh High Court stayed the conviction of BJP’s disqualified MLA from Pawai Prahlad Singh Lodhi.
While the State assembly has already declared the Pawai constituency (Which Lodhi represented) vacant, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that he would take Lodhi to the State assembly, because his membership was cancelled unconstitutionally. A delegation of the BJP has already met Governor Lalji Tandon over the issue demanding to reinstate the membership of Lodhi.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the State assembly Gopal Bhargav has written to the State assembly Speaker objecting the short session of assembly. He also alleged that the short session has been convened because the government is not willing to face the people-related issues.
