Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Ujala Yojana will bring light in people’s lives. It would lead to saving by both consumers and Energy Department. He was addressing launch ceremony of energy-efficient LED bulbs distribution scheme Ujala Yojana at his residence here on Saturday. Union Minister of State for Energy and Coal Piyush Goyal said that Ujala is an ambitious scheme of energy conservation. It would conserve energy and reduce pollution. As a token, LED bulbs were distributed to 6 persons at the programme. The Chief Minister appealed to people to replace old bulbs with LED bulbs under Ujala Yojana. The scheme is for benefit of all. He said that 20 thousand MW power will be generated in Madhya Pradesh by year 2018. For poor women, Central government is launching Ujjwala Yojana under which free gas stove and LPG cylinder will be given to poor women. Development of the poor and weaker sections is top priority of the state government.
Therefore, it has implemented scheme to provide wheat and rice at Re. one per kg to the poor. Now, land will be made available to every poor person to build house. Besides, financial assistance will also be provided for construction of houses. A campaign like Gramoday Se Bharat Uday will also be implemented in cities from July-August. Campaign for check-up health of women is also going on.
Union Minister of State Goyal said that under Ujala Yojana, all old bulbs will be replaced by LED bulbs. During last one year, 9 crore LED bulbs have been installed in the country, which would save about Rs 5,500 crore per annum. By year 2019, 77 crore old bulbs will be replaced by LED bulbs due to which people would save Rs 40,000 crore. Department has developed a mobile app which gives country, state and city-wise information about LED bulbs installed so far. He urged to make Madhya Pradesh the first state to provide LED bulbs in every household. Remarkable work has been done in Madhya Pradesh in renewable energy sector. In just 2 years, renewable energy generation capacity in the state has been increased from 800 MW to 3000 MW.
Energy and Public Relations Minister Rajendra Shukla said that energy generation is as important as its conservation. Under the scheme, 3 crore LED bulbs will be distributed in the state. It would save Rs 2,500 crore. Power is being supplied 24X7 in the state. Chairman of State Energy Development Corporation Vijendra Singh Sisodiya delivered the welcome address. Principal Secretary Energy Manu Shrivastava informed about the scheme.
Former CM Kailash Joshi, Mayor Alok Sharma, MP Alok Sanjar, MLAs Vishwas Sarang, Rameshwar Sharma, Surendranath Singh and Vishnu Khatri were also present on the occasion. MD of Energy Efficiency Services Limited Saurabh Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
