Bhopal: A three-year old girl was dumped after been sexually assaulted near Pul Patra under Jehangirabad police station area in the early morning hours on Wednesday; injured girl was found in nullah at Pul Patra. The heinous crime came to fore in the morning. A local witnessed sobbing of a child and on searching spotted a baby crying; she was badly injured in a blood stained clothes. He immediately called Dial 100 and within few minutes a team from Jehangirabad police station had reached, but it did not take any action.

Addl SP Zone 1 Rajesh Chandel said that the victim along with her family members is staying near main railway station. She had gone missing in the early morning hours and later she was found near Pul Patra area. After the rape victim was dumped in bushes, one of the locals Manoj Bargi heard the cries of the victim found that the victim was trying to climb the wall of the Pul Patra nullah. He immediately informed his wife and with the help of other locals rescued the girl and later took her to Indira Gandhi hospital where she was referred to Sultania hospital and later it was confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted.

The family hails from Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh and engaged in selling plant leaves for cattle in Bhopal. The family came to the city around 15 days ago and was living near platform number 6 of main railway station. They work as labour and used to sell feed for goats due to the increase in the demand of feed for the upcoming festival Bakra Eid. The victim was with the family till 6.30 am and later she went missing. The family members started searching for the victim and after having failed to find her, they approached the GRP Bhopal police and lodged a missing complaint.

The police have registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) were imposed and search for the miscreant has been intensified. After registration of the case at Jehangirabad police station, case diary is being shifted to the GRP.
