Bhopal: A meeting of Nodal Officers of Election Expenditure Monitoring in the Assembly Deputy Election 2020 was held under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer Veera Rana. In the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer said that instructions were given to strictly monitor the election expenses of the candidates.
She said that strict action should be ensured on suspicious transactions. Intensive investigation must be undertaken in the 19 districts where by-elections are to be held in the state. The expenditure on meetings and programmes of star campaigners should be monitored. Nodal officers of all departments should work in coordination and provide daily information in the prescribed form.
During the meeting instructions were given to the banks regarding arrangement of cheque books and information about suspicious transactions, to CISF to make arrangements for checking at the airport / air strip / helipad and to coordinate with the Air Intelligence Unit. The Transport Department was instructed to conduct intensive checking of illegal vehicles and documents and remove unauthorized hooters and sirens from vehicles while issuing permits to the vehicles of star campaigners. The Department of Telecommunications has been instructed to track GPS system installed in vehicles and set up a strong network for sharing of information. Railway Nodal Officer was instructed to take action for check on illegal goods, liquor, money and illegal weapons at the stations.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Tomar said that the police department teams should initiate speedy action to monitor the election expenditure of the candidates. He directed the Income Tax Department to investigate the accounts of suspicious transactions and to conduct raids through excise squad. Deputy Chief Election Officer Disha Nagvanshi, along with Police, Income Tax, Excise, Narcotics, Airport Authority, Banks, Transport, Railway and CISF were present in the meeting.
