Ujjain: Food and Civil Supplies Department as well as Corporation have started distributing food grains in Simhastha Mela area. Saints-seers are being provided subsidized sugar, rice, wheat flour and LPG cylinders. Simhastha Mela area has 40 fair price shops where materials have been stored in adequate quantity. In the first phase the department has got prepared 10,000 quintal wheat flour from Pithampur. Arrangements have been made to provide 60,000 MT wheat flour during Mela period. At Ujjain, 2,000 MT rice and 1,000 MT sugar has been stored for Mela area. Subsidy of Rs 100 is being given on supply of every 14.2 kg LPG cylinder to saints and seers. For availing subsidy, bank account number and photocopy of bank passbook should be produced. So far, 2,000 LPG cylinders have been lifted in Mela area.
Food and Civil Supplies Department has issued 2,000 ration cards in Simhastha Mela area. The process is still going on. Maximum 5,000 members each have been included in ration cards issued to all 13 Akhadas. Minimum 50 to 2-3 thousand members have been included in ration cards issued to other Pandals. The department is verifying numbers of ration card entries by visiting plots. Following this, ration cards are being issued. It is also being ascertained as to whether Pandals have been erected or not.
Massive number of devotees will visit Ujjain during Simhastha. Traffic routes from 16 points have been fixed for smooth transportation of devotees. Public transport vehicles will stop for 2 minutes at every stop. Routes of public transport are widely publicized in public interest.
To meet Simhastha rush, 7 special trains will ply from Ratlam to Ujjain. On this route, 14 special trains are already plying. On Shahi Snan days, 9 additional special trains will ply from Ratlam. Large scheme public convenience arrangements have been made at Ratlam railway station.
