Bhopal: Special session of Madhya Pradesh assembly would soon be convened to clear the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill. Notably, the Lok Sabha has cleared four bills related to the GST on Wednesday, setting the stage for 28 states, along with Delhi and Puducherry, to enact state laws over the next three months to roll out the new tax regime from July. The four bills- Integrated GST, Central GST, Union Territory GST and Compensation Bill- will be followed by work in the GST council, comprising FM Arun Jaitley and state finance ministers, to finalise rules and product- and service-wise rates by the end of April.
Since, States role in the four Bills have not been included, a special session of Madhya Pradesh and other assemblies would be convened to clear the Bill. Principal Secretary of Commercial Tax Manoj Shrivastava told The Pioneer that soon a special session of the State assembly would be convened to clear the Bill for paving path to impose GST nationwide.
