Bhopal: District administration and banks will hold camps in every Gram Panchayat in the state to promote digital currency from December 1. Accounts of all the people will be opened banks in the camps, with providing RuPey card to those who could not get it. Account holders will be informed about use of RuPey cards and keeping them same. Every bank’s branch will hold camp at least one in a day in a Gram Panchayat. District administration will extend its support in the camp. Secretary and Sarpanch of concerned Gram Panchayat will attend the camp. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today discussed roadmap for promotion of cashless transaction with bank officials and senior officers at Mantralaya. Chouhan said that the country is moving towards cashless economy and Madhya Pradesh cannot be a laggard.
The Chief Minister discussed the recommendations of the high level committee constituted for suggestions with bank officials. He said, a task force has been constituted to make the state no 1 in use of plastic currency. The Task Force will establish coordination in procedure and action plan between state government and banks. He said that a Proposal is under consideration to provide five lakh Point of Sale (POS) machines to five lakh traders to promote cashless transaction.
Shri Chouhan said that intensive state wide campaign will be launched to make people aware of digital economy and literate with banks. He said that there won’t be any practical problem after teething problems in use of digital currency and will be used in villages. He said that there cannot be better option to use plastic money to curb black money and corruption effectively.
It was informed that there are 2.22 crore bank accounts in Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Rs 1999 crores are deposited in them. Total 1.26 crore accounts have been linked with Aadhar no. All account holders will be given RuPey card.
Noteworthy is that the e-payment system is already in the state and most of government payments are being made through e-payment mode. Cyber treasury has promoted cashless transaction. Discussion was held in the meeting on developing integrated payment gateway for e-wallet, accept payment through debit cards on toll booths, accept e-wallet, make provision for online payment for purchasing of high category luxury items and services, to improve business correspondence and purchasing of PoS machines, scrapping additional fee in case of online payment, appoint local persons as business correspondence and made cash less transaction necessary services at Sanchi Milk Parlour. Chouhan said that digital currency will come into existence slowly and all hurdles will be removed.
