Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is considered as one of the most prosperous state in the country in Mineral Resources. Special attention has been paid by the state government towards the infrastructure development works in the areas where minerals are found. Madhya Pradesh Rural infrastructure and Road Development Act has been implemented from 2005 for the infrastructure development in these areas. Under the act, provision has been made to levy tax on the land of minerals areas. This provision has facilitated the state government receiving tax beside royalty. A sum of Rs 4500.37 crore has been received by the government from 2004 to 2016. This amount will be spent specially for road construction and electricity arrangements.

In order to provide permission for storage of minerals and to prevent its illegal storage, the Madhya Pradesh Illegal Minerals excavation, transport and storage rule has been made in the year 2006. There was no such rule in the state earlier. Employment opportunities have been created in large number in minerals trade sector.

Mineral Resources Department has prepared Madhya Pradesh district Mineral Establishment Trust rule in July 2016 to implement Pradhanmantri Mineral Area Welfare Scheme. Under the rule, as per the directives of Union Government action has been initiated to recover DMF amount which resulted in revenue receipt of Rs. 480 crore as of September 2016. This amount will be utilized on top priority for development in the mineral affected areas.

Moreover, provision has been made in the Madhya Pradesh Gon Khanij Niyam -2016 that royalty generated through this rule is being provided to the Jila Panchayats and Janpad Panchayats for development works.
