Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that encourage those who are working for cleanliness. Cleanliness should be made a mentality. Take resolution that our city, town and locality, colony will be made clean and beautiful. Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a proramme organised by Municipal Corporation to mark Swachhata Diwas. He dedicated she-lounge (public facility) at 10 No Market and flagged-off 8 sanitation rath and 2 CND waste vehicles. He also performed bhoomi-pujan for 45 public facility and 50 community facility centres.

Chouhan said that there is competition in cities across the country over sanitation and cleanliness. We will have to change mindset for making the city clean and hygienic. Where there is cleanliness, there is health and prosperity. Indore and Harda have been declared free from open defecation. Now, Bhopal should be made free from open defecation. A drive should be launched in this regard. There should be competition among residential societies. Additional fund for development will be given to the best cleaned ward from Chief Minister Infrastructure Fund. There is closed connection between cleanliness and prosperity. Poor Welfare agenda will be declared for poor.

In next two years, 5 lakh houses will be built in urban areas and 10 lakh in rural areas for poor. Every poor will have own house by the year 2022. Take humanly approach for poor. Frame a scheme for deepening of nulla in city. Chouhan administered pledge for cleanliness and signed on the pledge.

Mayor Alok Sharma said that 18 wards of Bhopal city have been made free from open defecation. Target has been set to make all wards free from open defecation. She-lounges (public facility) will be constructed in other markets also. Best wards and premises will be awarded for cleanliness. Rs 21 lakh will be given as first prize, 11 lakh as second and Rs 5 lakh for third prize. Similarly, best premises will be given Rs one lakh cash prize, Rs 51, 000 for second and Rs 21,000 for third prize. MP Alok Sanjar and MLA Surendra Nath Singh also addressed the programme.

The Chief Minister awarded two organisations I Clean and Sakaratmak Soch Sangthan for working for cleanliness in the programme. He released tool kit for ‘Doctor Apke Dwar’ and performed kanya pujan. MoU was signed in the programme between SL Group and Bhopal Municipal Corporation for solid waste management. Bhopal Development Authority chairman Om Yadav, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, Leader of Opposition in Municipal Corporation Mohammed Sagir, MIC members, corporators residential societies, representatives of woman and traders associations and citizens were present there. Chairman Municipal Corporation Dr Surjeet Singh Chouhan proposed the vote of thanks.
