Bhopal: After an RTI activist raised questions over the alleged involvement of Madhya Pradesh chief Secretary in the infamous Vyapam (Professional Examination Board) scam, the Central bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case has decided to quiz him. Official sources said that the CBI team would soon initiate investigation in the role of Chief Secretary Anthony DeSa. The issue is related to the recruitment of constables in transport department in 2012, when DeSa was Additional Chief Secretary in the Transport department.
Ajay Dubey told that at first the vacancy in the transport department for constables was advertised for 198 constables, but later with the approval of the Principal Secretary, DeSa, the recruitments were made on 332 vacancies. The recruitment in the Transport department that was conducted through Vyapam is under scanner and being investigated by the CBI.
Notably, the recruitment of constables in transport department had come to scanner, after it was found that there were 17 candidates from Gondia in Maharashtra, from where Sadhna Singh, wife of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hails. However, the State government has time and again denied this allegation, stating that only 2-3 candidates were from Gondia and that too was fair selection.
The CBI is probing the Vyapam after several allegations were leveled against the State government and the Congress leaders had approached Madhya Pradesh High Court.
