Bhopal: An amount of Rs 4414 crore will be deposited in the bank accounts of drought affected 20.45 lakh farmers in this month itself under the National Crop Insurance Scheme for Kharif-2016. The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that such a highest claim amount has been received by the state in the country after the independence. Chouhan informed that successful implementation of National Crop Insurance Scheme was done in the state to compensate crop loss due to drought for kharif -2015. A total of 28.78 lakh farmers were linked to this scheme and claim amount will be given to 20.45 lakh affected farmers.

Chouhan said that the central share of Rs 2027 crore has been deposited under the National Agriculture Development Scheme. The state government has provided its share of Rs 2027 crore to the Insurance Company in the month of September, 2016 itself. This immediate step of the Union and State government has facilitated farmers to get benefit of the scheme.
