Bhopal: On the occasion of the Republic Day, the Chief Minister Kamal Nath gifted the Professors of the Government Colleges and their equivalent officers with the most awaited 7th pay scale. The benefit of 7th pay scale will be given by the state government to the teachers working in government colleges, all officers posted on the equivalent cadres and registrars of the universities (excluding private universities) from January 01, 2016. An order in this connection has been issued by the Higher Education Department on Friday.

Expressing gratitude towards the Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the Higher Education Minister Jeetu Patwari said that decision has been taken to provide benefit of 7th pay scale, according to the recommendations of the University Grant Commission to about 5238 persons of academic cadre, librarians and sports officers.

Patwari further mentioned that all the beneficiaries will receive cash benefit from January 01, 2019. A total expenditure burden of Rs 372.93 crore is estimated on 7th pay scale between January 01, 2016 and March 31, 2019. Under this, 50 per cent will be received from the Union Government in the form of financial assistance.

The state government will bear the entire burden from April 01, 2019. Besides, Patwari asserted that that additional expenditure burden of Rs 121.59 crore per annum is estimated. The academic cadre working in the universities will also receive the benefits of the 7th pay scale and the entire expenditure burden will be borne by the concerned university.
