Bhopal: Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Gopal Bhargav has said that NABARD should prepare a work plan for extensive marketing of products of Self-help Groups in which state government will also extend support. He was speaking as the chief guest at an award function of the state-level self-help groups organized by NABARD. Ten self-help groups from various districts of Madhya Pradesh were felicitated for their outstanding performance in financial discipline and livelihoods.

Bhargav appreciated the role of NABARD and Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (MPSRLM) in up scaling the self-help group movement in the state. He said that as a result of their joint efforts more than 45 lakh women have been mobilized into approximately 3 lakh self help groups in the state.

He urged the banks and civil society organizations to work in coordination and empower the women economically and socially. He also praised NABARD for its initiative to recognize and acknowledge the performers, both banks and SHGs, which will inspire others to contribute to this movement.

Bhargav said that the stamp duty for SHG loans upto Rs 10 lakh has been waived and the self help groups have been entrusted the work of preparing school uniform and supply of nutritious food to anganwadi kendras. State government is taking the decision to install sanitary napkin machines prepared by Livelihood Mission in girls schools.

Chief General Manager NABARD KR Rao informed that NABARD and Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission have together mobilized more than 3 lakh self-help groups in the state, of which 1.25 lakh groups have also got bank loan. This has help in bringing rural women on the path of prosperity in the state.

Self help groups from Anuppur, Dewas, Betul and Gwalior district have been awarded. PK Jena, Regional Director Reserve Bank of India, Ajay Vyas, Field General Manager, Central Bank of India and Convenor, SLBC and LM Belwal, CEO, Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and state heads of banks were also present in the programme.
