Jabalpur: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda said that praiseworthy progress has been made by the honest efforts of the Madhya Pradesh government for betterment of health services. The efforts of the state government have brought drastic change in the position of the state at national standard. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that all the necessary steps were taken by the state government to make the health services better. The state is making all efforts to provide health services to the poor people of the state by various welfare schemes.

Nadda and the Chief Minister Chouhan were addressing the foundation stone laying programme of the proposed Super Specialty block of Jabalpur Medical College on Saturday.

Nadda said that the construction of super specialty block worth Rs 150 crore will surely provide high class medical facilities to the people. He underlined the contribution of Madhya Pradesh for making various health indicators better. He announced to set up State cancer Institute worth Rs 120 crore and Trauma Center at Jabalpur beside announcement for establishment of CGHS dispensary.

Referring to the Amrut Programme, Nadda said that 2000 medicines less than 60 to 90 per cent at MRP are being provided. Under the scheme, retail stores will be opened in the state on availability of place. He assured for necessary support from the department for expansion and betterment of health services in the state.

Expressing gratitude towards the announcements of the Union Minister, CM Chouhan said that people of Jabalpur and nearby districts will get rid of going outside for treatment after the completion of the super specialty block. He mentioned that to provide better health services to the people is the biggest responsibility of any government.

Chouhan further said that power up to Rs 2 lakh has been entrusted to the collector under the Rajya Bimari Sahayta scheme. Our effort is to ensure that no one should deprive of the treatment due to financial scarcity. Increase has been made from Rs 2 crore to Rs 100 crore in the Chief Minister Discretionary amount to ensure treatment at private hospital if needed. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that steps have been taken to treat heart diseases of children under the Mukhyamantri Bal Hridaya Upchaar Yojana. He also mentioned about under considered new scheme of bone marrow transplant for children suffering from thalassemia disease.
