Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that poor families will be given land for having their own housing unit and those occupying lands for years would be provided land lease for the same. He said that economic assistance would also be extended to them for constructing housing units. The Chief Minister was addressing a convention of beneficiaries at Budhar in Shahdol district on Thursday. Chouhan observed that those who are natives of Madhya Pradesh must have a piece of land in their possession. It is everyones dream to have his own house. The State Government will help the poor families realize their dreams. He announced to provide Rs 40 crore for construction of houses for the poor in Dhanpuri municipality area and Rs 20 crore for those in Budhar municipality area.

The Chief Minister said that the meritorious students of all classes will be provided financial support on pursuing medical, engineering courses or joining IITs. He listed some schemes under which students are getting benefits for pursuing studies. Talented students will be given laptops and smart phones also, he added.

Chouhan informed that it has been decided to distribute pension to destitutes and elderly persons on the 10th of every month at public functions.

He said that government employees have been given benefits of sixth pay commission and will also be given benefits of seventh commission. It is also responsibility of government officials to function for the welfare the poor and weaker sections. Those committing laxity in discharging their assigned duties will be taken to the task.

Chouhan said that the state government is committed to ensuring socio-economic and educational advancement of women. They have been given 50 per cent reservations in Panchayat Raj and local bodies. Except forest department, all departments have given 33 per cent reservation to them.

Minister in charge of the district Rajendra Shukla, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Om Prakash Dhurve, Minister of State for Micro and Small Enterprises Sanjay Pathak were present. Chouhan announced to provide Rs 16.45 crore for Dhanpuri drinking water scheme and Rs 15.35 crore for Budhar drinking water supply scheme.

He also announced to provide Rs 1.5 crore each for roads in Dhanpuri and Budhar municipality areas. He informed that Rs 79 crore has been sanctioned for Markhi dam project. Its construction will begin soon. The Chief Minister dedicated to people the RTO building constructed at a cost of Rs 5.99 lakh in Harri village. He announced to ensure piped water supply scheme at Harri soon. Chouhan dedicated to people the Budhar tehsil headquarters building constructed at a cost of Rs 69.70 lakh.

The Chief Minister dedicated 100-seater girls hostel in Dhanpuri municipal area. He also held dialogues with girl students about their studies. At Devhara, Chouhan talked to people and inquired about their problems. He said that all their grievances would be addressed immediately.
