Bhopal: Narmada Valley Development Authority has fully adopted the principle of ‘Per Drop, More Crop’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in irrigation projects. All future irrigation projects are being developed under the framework of this principle. Efficiency to use water has been increased by 50 percent in the projects where micro irrigation technique was used. This was informed in a review meeting, chaired by Minister of state for Narmada Valley Development (independent charge) Lal Singh Arya at Mantralaya.
Authority vice-chairman Rajneesh Vaish informed that the future irrigation projects of the authority will have micro-irrigation technique. Irrigation is being done through the micro-irrigation in Punasa, Khargone and Omkareshwar lift irrigation projects. Efficiency to use water has been increased by 50 percent.
The Minister reviewed implementation of vision 2018, resolution 2013 and recommendations of Manthan 2014 in the meeting. Arya said that the progress of execution of the recommendations was satisfactory. Even then, it will be ensured to execute remaining recommendations.
Authority vice-chairman informed that work is underway on Narmada-Malwa-Gambhir link project, to provide irrigation facility to 50,000 hectare agriculture land of 158 villages of Indore and Ujjain districts. Lift irrigation schemes of Alirajpur, Balwara, Chhegaon Makhan, Bistan, Simrol, Amba Chandan and Harsud have been sanctioned by the authority.
Five lakh hectare area was provided irrigation facility by authority’s ongoing and under construction irrigation projects in the year 2015-16.The authority is making efforts promptly to extend irrigation facility for 11 lakh hectare area, by 2019, from the present target of 7.98 lakh hectare. Authority’s engineers and other officials were present in the meeting.
