Bhopal: An Orchid Park is being developed by the Horticulture Department on about 100 acre land in Chhindwara district. Poly Houses will be developed by youth in this park. Land has already been earmarked for the park. Floriculture in this park will give a new identity to Chhindwara district. Under the scheme, land will be given on lease to farmers and floriculture training will also be imparted to them. Mainly, Rose, Rajnigandha and Jarvera flowers etc. will be grown in the park and Nagpur city will be the nearest sales centre. In future after increase in production, efforts will be made to export flowers abroad.

In compliance to the instructions of the Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the Horticulture Department has initiated an action for allotment of 100 acre land in Kohat Raiyat. Recently, a study tour has also been conducted by the delegation of the Government of India to explore possibility of cashew nut farming in Chhindwara district.

Along with the conventional farming, efforts are being made for necessary arrangements for fruits and dry fruits farming in the district.

Youth of Mainikhapa tribal region of Chhindwara district will be encouraged for floriculture. Number of farmers will increase after the development of the Orchid Park. Necessary infrastructure will also be developed by the District Administration. Along with providing land on lease, facility for adequate water and electricity facility according to the requirement will be provided to the farmers in the orchid Park. Not only training will be given to the farmers by the Horticulture Experts but guidance will also be provided in floriculture especially in connection to suitable temperature, irrigation, production and marketing.
