Bhopal: Under the drive started against adulterators, an action under the National Security Act (NSA) has been taken against the accused Kirti Vardhan for preparing spurious ghee under the name Bakery Shortening in Ujjain today. On behalf of the people, the Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Tulsiram Silawat honoured the police administration for taking action under the NSA.

Reviewing the campaign against the adulterators in Ujjain, Silawat said that adulterators cannot be allowed to play with the health of people at any cost. People informing about the adulterators will be rewarded and their names will be kept confidential.

The Controller Food and Drugs Administration Ravindra Singh informed that 1468 samples of various food items have been collected under the campaign being conducted from July 20 against the adulterators. Samples are being examined by the State Food laboratory. During the examination 20 samples have been found of standard quality, while 15 and 3 samples have been found of sub-standard and fake brand respectively.

The Controller further said that FIRs have been registered by the food safety officers against 3 adulterators in Gwalior district, 2 in Rajagarh and one each in Khargone and Guna district.
