Bhopal: The state government has made the process of nomination for Padma Awards online from the current session on the Home Department website at http://home.mp.gov.in/. To operate the Padma Awards module, the Home Department has provided log-in password to all the district collectors. The last date to submit nomination is August 1, 2019. With this arrangement, the category-wise application can be made simple and with alertness, the proposers can make remarks and monitoring will also be easier.

Nomination for the Padma Award for persons marked in the districts will be sent to the department in the prescribed format using the log-in password. The Home Department has also released the online flowchart of the module. With its help, the nomination of the Padma Awards will can be easily submitted on the departmental website.

While filing nominations of participants marked in the online process, the details of the expected citation and contribution made by the participants in their area and for the society have to be filled in both Hindi and English languages in the format prescribed by the Government of India. With this, the process of selecting nominations for Padma awards and sending them online to the Indian government can be completed in a simple, easy and timed-bound format.

Padma Award is one of the highest civilian honours of India declared on the eve of Republic Day every year. These awards are given in three categories. ‘Padma Vibhushan’ for exceptional and special service, ‘Padma Bhushan’ for special service of high order and ‘Padma Shri’ is given for prestigious service. Padma Awards are given on the basis of the recommendations made by the Padma Awards Committee. Recommendations of the Committee are presented to the Prime Minister and the President for approval.

Presently this process is being undertaken from the district level to state level through paper copy manually. This leads to the possibility of undesirable delays or errors in getting nominations of Padma awards at the district level, sending the nominations to the government after review of district collectors, review by probe committee at the administrative level and submitting the nomination proposal to the Government of India. The adoption of the new process will bring reduce the possibility of errors to the minimum.
