Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that liquor shops will not be opened at Narmada Banks from next financial year. De-addiction campaign will be conducted in the state. Moreover, sewage treatment plants will be established in all the cities situated on the banks of River Narmada. CM Chouhan was addressing the Narmada Seva Yatra at village Sandiya of Hoshangabad district. Speaker State Assembly Dr Sitasharan Sharma, Minister for Public Works Rampal Singh and Minister District Incharge and Minister of State for Horticulture Suryaprakash Meena were present on the occasion.

Chouhan said that deliberation should be made in country to hang rapists. Political parties, Sants and Social Activists should initiate action for this. Law should be enacted by bringing amendments in the constitution. Chouhan administered pledge to the people to conserve Narmada river. He took part in the group Aarti at Narmada ghat. Before this, Chouhan performed Narmada Poojan and Kanya Poojan. He also planted saplings at Narmada ghat.

Chouhan further mentioned that Narmada Devi Narmade Seva Yatra is the biggest capign to conserve river and environment. Members of all the sections of the society should participate to make it a public movement. Life is not possible without river and water. Narmada river has remarkable contribution in the development of Madhya Pradesh. Electricity and water for irrigation has been obtained from Narmada Water. Damaged has been caused by felling trees on both the banks of Narmada River. If this situation continues, we will not be able to see water in the next fifty years. Under Narmada Seva Yatra, a campaign to undertake plantation is being conducted on both the banks of River Narmada. He further mentioned to undertake plantation on both the banks and to construct toilet at every house of the villages situated on the banks of River Narmada. Do not dispose off flowers, coconuts and oil in the river in the name of pooja. Also do not immerse idols in Narmada River and to make the villages addiction free. Chouhan said that do not discriminate between girl and a boy child, Send every child to school. A stern action will be taken to stop illegal mining on the banks of River Narmada, he added.
