SaleenaBhopal: It is necessary to strengthen democracy ensuring electoral rolls are completely pure and error-free. The more a country’s electoral rolls will be pure, the more its electoral process will be successful. This was stated by Chief Electoral Officer Saleena Singh at one-day training to district collectors regarding National Electoral Rolls Purification campaign at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management here today. Secretary Election Commission of India Anuj Jaipuriyar was especially present on the occasion. Saleena Singh said that women’s participation in electoral process in Madhya Pradesh has constantly increased. It will definitely strengthen democracy. She informed that on the instructions of Election Commission of India, National Electoral Rolls Purification campaign is being conducted in Madhya Pradesh till August 31. Campaign will succeed only when common people also participate in it along with government staff. For this, assistance of SVEEP partners is being obtained. Smt. Singh informed that process of purify electoral is going on continuously in Madhya Pradesh. A large number of names of deceased persons have been deleted from voter lists during previous years.

Singh informed that errors have been rectified in voter IDs of about 7 lakh voters during year 2015. Information technology is being used to make electoral rolls pure and error-free. Repeat entries have also been examined through IT. Photographs are also being tallied. Rationalisation of polling booths is being undertaken on the basis of 1200 population in urban areas and 1000 in urban areas. Work is also underway to construct boundary walls of polling booths’ sections with the help of GIS and Google Map. She informed that names of maximum number of new voters are being included in voter lists.

Earlier, the CEO inaugurated training programme by lighting a lamp. Smt. Disha Nagvanshi presented outlines about role and responsibility for the campaign, Ravish Shrivastava about polling booths, Kamlesh Puri about ongoing summary revision of electoral rolls, Rajiv Jain Vinay and Deshmukh IT on use of information technology in the campaign. Joint Chief Electoral Officer SS Bansal presented detailed outlines of the campaign.
