Bhopal: Demanding arrest of Governor Ramnaresh Yadav in the infamous Vyapam scam, party worker of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) tried to commit suicide by immolating himself during Guard of Honour at Governor House on Wednesday. The man was identified as Manoj Tripathi appeared just before the governors cavalcade started to leave the governor house and set himself afire; alert police personnel rushed to rescue and pacified the fire but still he sustained burns. The man sustained burn injuries in hands and was later arrested by the police.

The police have registered case for deterring public servant from discharge of his duty. Ruckus was created at the farewell of the Governor Ramnaresh Yadav on Wednesday after a man tried to commit suicide. The incident occurred during Guard of Honour given to governor at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday when he was about to come out from the Raj Bhawan on his way to airport.

SP Bhopal (North) Anshuman Singh said Manoj Tripathi sustained around 5 per cent burns as he was immediately rescued due to alert police personnel deployed at the security and . Yadav had secured a stay from Madhya Pradesh High Court which offered him constitutional immunity in a case registered against him by the STF in Forest Guard recruitment scam 2014.

According to the police Tripathi is RTI and political activist. Along with other protestors Tripathi raised the demand to arrest Ramnaresh Yadav as he had completed his tenure and do not hold immunity as a governor any more. After Tripathi was injured and rescued he was rushed to Hamidia hospital where he was provided treatment for the burn injuries.
