Bhopal: In order to provide rebate in dues of various taxes, National Lok Adalats will be held in urban bodies of the state on November 12. Notification has been issued to the Commissioners of all the Municipal corporations and Chief Municipal Officers of Municipal councils. In compliance to the directives of the National Legal Service Authority to hold National Adalat, activities will be undertaken to provide rebate in various pending taxes on November 12. Guidelines have been prescribed in the notification to provide rebate to the people in property tax and water tax.

Such cases of property tax, wherein tax and surcharge amounting to Rs 50,000 is due, up to 100 percent rebate in surcharge only will be provided. Similarly, in case of dues between Rs 50,000 and one lakh, up to 50 per cent rebate in surcharge only will be provided. Further tax and surcharge amounting above Rs one lakh, rebate up to 50 per cent in surcharge amount will be given.

In the cases of water tax dues, 100 per cent rebate in surcharge will be given where tax and surcharge amount is Rs 10,000. Moreover, wherein tax and surcharge amounting to Rs 50,000 to one lakh is due, 50 per cent rebate in surcharge amount will be provided. Similarly, in the cases where Rs. above 10,000 and up to 50,000 is due, 75 per cent rebate on surcharge will be given.

As per the one time settlement policy, rebate will be given once only. This rebate will be applicable on the due sum till the financial year 2015-16. After the rebate, the amount will get deposited in two installments. It is mandatory to deposit 50 per cent of the amount on the same day after the decision of the court. This rebate is valid for National Lok Adalat to be held on November 12 only.
