Bhopal: Minister for Water Resources, Public Relations and Parliamentary Affairs Narottam Mishra today had a meeting with Water Resources Department (WRD) officials at Mantralaya and reviewed extension of irrigation projects. Minister Mishra instructed to complete under construction irrigation projects soon. Principal Secretary, Water Resources, Pankaj Agrawal and engineer-in-chief MG Chobey were present in the meeting. Minister Mishra said that water reserved for irrigation should be used fully in the interest of farmers. Constant efforts should be made for maximum use of rain water and water from other sources which go without use.

He took detail of irrigation facility being provided to farmers from major irrigation projects. Minister Mishra said that efforts be made for getting environment clearance in the projects where such clearance is required. Plan should be made for direct water linkage from Doab canal to Harsi high-level canal. Mishra said forests, environment and administrative sanctions be taken on priority for Loargoi project.

Mishra took stock of irrigation projects of Gwalior and Datia regions. He asked the officials to make a plan for use of Manikhera reservoir to reduce pressure from Tighara reservoir for water supply in Gwalior. Similarly, instructions were issued to coordinate with urban administration department for water supply in Datia city and ensure role of water resources department in it.
