Bhopal: Namami Devi Narmade-Seva Yatra started from Bargi reached Narsinghpur its eighth destination on 23rd day today. Narmada Seva Yatra received huge support from all the sections of the society at Mandla and Jabalpur districts. Yatra in-charge of Jabalpur and Mandla Mahamandaleshwar Swami Akhileshwaranand and Collector Jabalpur Mahesh Chowdhary handed over the Flag and Kalash of the Yatra to the Minister for Public Works Rampal Singh. Yatris and Sadhus participating in yatra became emotional when the flag of southern bank of seva yatra of Jabalpur district was handed over on the bridge of Saner river at the boundary of Narsinghpur district. Narmada seva Yatra was started under the leadership of the Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on December 11 from Amarkantak . Narmada yatra will culminate at Amarkantak, the origin point of Narmada after covering 1100 villages of 16 districts situated on the banks of River Narmada.

Welcoming the yatra in Narsinghpur Minister in charge Rampal Singh said that the Narmada seva yatra has transformed into public movement. He mentioned that any difficult work can be accomplished easily if society gathers. This resolution of the public to conserve the Narmada River will become an example for the country. The yatra will reach Jhansi ghat covering Kuklah, Khamaria villages of Narsinghpur district. Member of Parliament Rao Uday Pratap Singh and Prahalad Patel, MLAs Pratibha Singh, Jalam Singh Patel, Sanjay Sharma and Representatives of local bodies participated in the yatra today.

Not only Narmada conservation but several social issues like organic farming, encouragement to horticulture crops, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Gou-Sanrakshan and Gou Sanvardhan and Plantation are included in the Narmada Seva Yatra.

Deliberations are being made with the villagers on these issues. Yatra is being welcomed on its way by women and girls by making rangolis. Also pledge is being administered to villagers for conservation of Narmada river. Moreover, yatra is being supported by folk dances and folk bhajans.
