Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) here on Monday targeted Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani saying she was trying to humiliate Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in an issue of admission of a child in Kendriya Vidyalaya here. While talking to media persons here on Monday, MPCC Chief Spokesperson KK Mishra said, “After Irani’s humiliation in Hyderabad’s student Rohiht Vemula’s suicide case and defeat in Amethi, she is trying to denigrate Gandhi. The Congress is consulting its legal experts to file a criminal case against Irani.” During Gandhi’s visit here in 2013, a child newspaper hawker, identified as Kaushal Shakya, came near his car and after that, Gandhi asked the state Congress to arrange study of the child.
According to reports, the MPCC had arranged to admit Kaushal in Kendriya Vidyalaya here and at the same time, provided job of a peon to his father at a college, run by a Congress leader. But the child could not continue his study because of the Congress’ reported aloofness. Irani came to know about the incident and she wrote a letter to the school recently for the boy’s readmission. Clarifying the episode, Mishra said that the then state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria ensured the boy’s study and provided job to his father Dulichand Shakya at the college of Congress leader Syed Sajid Ali.
Quoting a written document, Mishra claimed that Dulichand expressed his inability to continue work in the college as he earns more from other sources and the job should be given to his son Jugal, who is still working in the college and the amount, the Congress earmarked for Kaushal, is being added to Jugal’s salary.
Mishra, further claimed that the boy’s father informed the Congress that the boy stopped to go to school as it was far away from his house and the party should give money to him as he would arrange his child’s study on his own. Alleging that Irani worked in television serials was maintaining double standard, the Congress leader said that she should tender apology publicly for her behaviour.
