Bhopal: Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs and Public Relations Minister Narottam Mishra has directed to ensure completion of ongoing projects for increasing area under irrigation in difference to wish of the Chief Minister. Mishra was reviewing departmental activities at Jabalpur. MLAs Sushil Tiwari Indu and Ashok Rohani attended the meeting. The Minister was informed by the officials during the meeting and updated status of under construction minor, medium and major irrigation projects in Jabalpur division. He directed to start work of sanctioned irrigation projects and get removed hurdles regarding NOC from Environment and Forest departments at the earliest. Mishra also apprised himself about projects whose sanction is pending at government level.

The Minister stressed the need to make available irrigation water to farmers from reservoirs to irrigate crops as per their requirement. He also directed to complete canal work speedily. Contractors neglecting construction work of canals and irrigation projects should be blacklisted. Mishra also mentioned of ‘Namami Devi Narmade Yatra’ being started from November under Narmada Sanrakshan Abhiyan. He directed to start all necessary preparations for this ambitious campaign of the Chief Minister from now onwards. Details of department’s best practices should be prepared. WRD Minister directed for early preparation of DPR for proposed irrigation projects and to send them for sanction to the government.

Meanwhile, the Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister has said that the state government is committed to expand area under irrigation in the state. He said that Water Resources Department’s is vital in making agriculture profitable. He said that officers should discharge their duties earnestly. Mishra was addressing a review meeting the department at Sagar on Monday.

Mishra directed to accelerate pace of work to complete irrigation projects. Proposed projects should be started at the earliest. If any project has been completed, process to dedicate it should be undertaken. The Minister apprised himself about information regarding Ken-Betwa Link Project. He gave necessary directives regarding various projects including Bina major irrigation project and Pancham Nagar medium project. He said that process to complete projects should be undertaken by contacting senior officers at headquarters level.
