Bhopal: The first meeting of the state level committee, constituted after the important initiative of the Madhya Pradesh government to hold deliberations in connection to the simultaneous elections of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, concluded at Mantralaya on Thursday. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has nominated the Minister for Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliament Affairs Narottam Mishra as the Chairman of the state level committee. A decision was taken in the meeting held today, that the state level committee will also organize meetings at other regions of the state to know views of the various sections of the society on this important issue related to the national interest. The next meeting of the committee will be held on April 2.

The Chairman of the committee Narottam Mishra said that the tenure of Vidhan Sabha of different states of the country ends at different time. In this case, Lok Sabha election along with the Vidhan Sabha elections of the states is not practical. By obtaining views from the legal experts, thinkers, media representatives, public representatives and common man in this connection, we can move ahead towards the conclusion.

Member of the committee and Chairman of the Tourism Corporation Tapan Bhoumik said that besides holding elections of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha simultaneously, elections of nagar palikas and other local bodies should also be conducted concurrently. There is a need to prepare a single voter list. Senior social activist Vishnu Dutt Sharma mentioned that the important views on holding election together will be obtained from the common man by organising meetings in different regions of the state.
