Bhopal: During the raids at the premises of Excise Department’s Assistant Commissioner Alok Khare, the Special Police Establishment of Lokayukta unearthed assets worth crores of rupees including luxury automobiles, posh houses and lands etc. The Lokayukta on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids at seven establishments of the officer in Bhopal, Indore, Raisen and Chhatarpur.
The Lokayukta sleuths were shocked with the revelations of the astronomical assets amassed by the officer who despite his humble earnings of around Rs one lakh a month has managed to accumulate over Rs 100 crore properties with close to two dozen places across the state.
As against Rs two crore income drawn by the officer–Alok Khare in 23 years of service joined in 1996, he has amassed assets worth running in several crores, said investigators who carried out raids at seven establishments of Khare including two each in Indore, Bhopal and Raisen and one at Chhatarpur, where the officer has a luxury bungalow built.
His stature and lavish style could be understood from the fact that during the posting in Indore, the officer had ordered Rs 85,000 chair for his office. The officers has over a dozen luxury automobiles and Rs 15 lakh cash has been seized from his bungalows in Indore and Raisen. Some foreign currency has also been recovered from Khare’s bungalow in Chhatarpur and his lavish farm house at Raisen had even dazed the investigators, said an officer involved in the probe.
Khare’s Jatkhedi based bungalow at Hoshangabad road was raided in Bhopal. The officer presently posted in Indore has served at several districts during his service. The officer was posted in Indore in June 2018 and from 2014 to 2018, he was in Bhopal.
Complaints were lodged by locals against Khare when he was posted in Dhar and Khargone, and local MLA Neena Verma from Dhar too had raised complaints against the officer but with his strong connect with seniors, the officer remained untouched.
