Indore: The Income Tax (IT) Department on Friday conducted raids at 15 premises of a business group in three different cities in Madhya Pradesh on the suspicion of major tax evasion. “A team of IT officials comprising nearly 100 personnel conducted raids at 15 places associated with Bhadoria Group in Indore, Gwalior and Bhind cities in the state,” a senior IT department official said. However, he did not reveal any further information about the action.

Large quantity of documents and other material was seized from the premises of the group and its associates during the raid. “The exact amount of tax evasion would be known only after the scrutiny of the seized material,” the official said. The group currently runs hotels, a medical college and other institutes of higher education. It is also engaged in some other businesses, which are also under the scanner of the IT department. Efforts to contact Bhadoria Group officials did not yield any result.
