Bhopal: A two-day Burhanpur Simhavlokan programme will commence at Burhanpur from April 18 on World Heritage Day. Woman and Child Development Minister Archana Chitnis informed at Burhanpur that this programme was being organised with the assistance of Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museum with the purpose of bringing to the fore the significant heritage of archaeological and ancient Indian history besides medieval heritage. Chitnis informed that the Copper Hoard Culture axe, mention of Maharishi Narad and Ashwathama in Anushrutis, description of eight chapters of ancient literary text Tapti Mahatmya establishes the importance of Burhanpur in the entire ancient times. In order to connect the masses with the conservation and protection of the regions heritage and to hold a discussion on these subjects and hear the thoughts of the subject experts a seminar on the theme Dharohar ki baat Dharohar ke saath on April 18 and 19, heritage walk, heritage drive and cultural programmes will be organised.

A discussion would be held on Burhanpur in Pre historic era, post historic era and on the art and architecture, historic archaeology, medieval history and tourism interest at the seminar on April 18 at Burhanpur. The participants will get a chance to see and understand about 22 spots of historical importance including Gupteshwar temple, Dargah-e-Hakimi, Kundi Bhandara, Gurudwara and Jain temple during the heritage walk and drive.

Joint Director of Archaeological Survey of India SB Ota, Archaeology expert from Bengaluru Professor Ravi Korisettar, Delhis Heritage Planner Dr Nisha Tandon, Mudra Shastri Professor S.K Bhatt besides archaeology experts and historians from INTECH, Vakankar Research Institute, Devi Ahilya, Vikram, Barkatullah and Jiwaji University will also take part in the seminar and heritage walk.
