Bhopal: Governor Omprakash Kohli was addressing 92nd meeting of university coordination committee today in Raj Bhavan. He said that the meeting is important for higher education that’s why it should be held four times in a year and after every three months. Kohli instructed that all universities should hold convocation on time and regularly. Minister for higher education Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, principal secretary to Governor Ajay Tirki, principal secretary, higher education Ashish Upadhyay, secretary finance Anuruddh Mukharjee and vice-chancellors of state and private universities were present in the meeting.
The Governor said that rapid progress has been made in higher education in the state. Qualitative reforms should be made along with expansion in higher education. Kohli said there are huge prospects for our institutes to emerge as major centres for education and research as per global index.
He said it is need of the time to implement vocational courses. Kohli said courses for skill development, as per the intention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, should be implemented from next academic session. On reducing the status of the vice-chancellors, Governor Kohli said that vice-chancellors should be provided status with dignity and importance.
Minister for higher education Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya said that all universities should organise convocation from next academic session, in uniform as per Indian traditions. He underlined a need to follow academic calendar and announce results on time. Higher education minister Pawaiya said that Deendayal Upadhyay chair should be set up in university to provide vocational education so that youths can get employment.
Decision was taken in the meeting to recruit guest teachers and invite emeritus professor and form a committee for submitting report on pay scale. Finance, secretary and commissioner of higher education and two vice-chancellors will be appointed in the committee. Decision was taken to introduce B Voc course in all traditional universities and colleges from next academic session. It was decided in meeting that all the university to upload information related with fee and others by November 30 on university’s websites.
