Bhopal: Higher and Technical Education Minister Umashankar Gupta has directed to make higher education’s technical and other institutions transparent and conducive for students. He directed for constant monitoring of private educational institutions for basic facilities and quality education. He directed to set up all-equipped exam halls of 1000 capacity each in all districts. Gupta reviewed activities of Higher and Technical Education Department here today. Gupta directed to make technical education practical and employment-oriented. He said that a lot of talented students are unable to come forward due to poverty.
A forum of such students needs to be afforded through which technical and financial assistance can be given to them. He also directed to study best practices of the universities in the country where attention is paid to skill development of students and given job-oriented degrees. The Minister apprised himself of progress of engineering college buildings’ construction at Dhar, Jhabua and Shahdol and online exams of technical institutions.
Gupta reviewed ongoing online exams of PEB. He directed to further strengthen the process after discussions with institutions connected to online exams. He stressed the need for audit after exams conducted by PEB so that any possible error can be rectified. He directed to strengthen monitoring system at every level. The meeting was informed that calendar of exams has been chalked out on the basis of recruitment proposals received from various departments. So far, 8 exams have been held in which 5 lakh students appeared. He informed that capacity of online exams has been increased from 10 thousand to 25,000. Gupta directed to hold pending exams at the earliest.
Gupta also reviewed admission policies of colleges and arrangements at private colleges. Gupta said that admission policy should be available online, but if students of remote areas are unable to use online facility, their forms will be accepted offline by principals. It would be responsibility of principals to make these forms online within 3 days.
Gupta directed to also use information technology to inform about admission to students who have passed higher secondary and CBSE exams. He directed for strict action against private colleges which do not have basic teaching facilities. He also directed to examine audit reports of such colleges. Information about any irregularity should be sought from CA. In case CA does not give satisfactory reply, complaint against him should be made with their Delhi-based institution.
