Bhopal: Children of Kol and Mavasi tribe of Satna district need not go far now from their village Batohi to pursue studies. In compliance to the directives of the Chief Minister Kamal Nath, a primary school will come into existence for 51 children of this tribal dominated village. The Batohi village consisting of about 50 houses comes under the Majhgavan block of Chitrakoot Nagar Panchayat. About 250 families of Kol and Mawasi tribes reside in this village. Owing to the absence of school facility in the village, children had to travel 2 kilometer to Ansuiyya village for studies. Ansuiyya village is a tourist place. These children used to be very irregular in attending school. Even some children had started working as labourers.
Vinod Singh, the teacher of the Chitrakoot Primary School says that when he came in contact with the children, he was told that village does not have any school facility. He talked to the children’s families and motivated them to start a school in their village itself.
According to Vinod Singh, a temporary school was established with the help of some active and conscious minded journalists Manish Pandey, Alok Mishra and farmer Kamlesh Pandey of Pathra Pal village along with the villagers.
Manish Pandey, the publisher of Weekly Newspaper ‘Rewanchal Roshni’ of Satna says that he tours Chitrakoot quiet often. During one of such visit, he came across with an opportunity to speak to the tribal children at Ansuiyya Ashram. After hearing their problem, he thought that there must be a school in the village. He and his fellow
Journalist Ashok Mishra decided to render help to the villagers. He further says that joy of the villagers knew no bounds, when they came to know that the Chief Minister Kamal Nath has instructed the Collector for starting a primary school in the village. We are also glad that our efforts have been honoured.
Ashok Mishra tells that the decision of the Chief Minister has brought a ray of hope in the life of villagers and they are sure now that their village will also develop and progress like other places. People of the entire Chitrakoot are happy with the Chief Minister’s initiative. Mishra further says that Vinod Singh has been told by the Collector to begin classes in Batohi village also for the time being.
