Neemuch: Four prisoners convicted in connection with different crimes, including rape, murder and smuggling of narcotics, fled away from the Neemuch district jail early on Sunday. The Madhya Pradesh government has later ordered a magisterial probe in the incident and suspended three jail staff for the negligence in discharging their duties.

Soon after the information regard jailbreak was circulated, the district police swung into action and sounded an alert to all the police stations in the district and adjoining districts. Police also pasted the pictures of all the four prisoners at various places in Neemuch district.

The prisoners who fled away have been identified as Nar Singh, (20) and Pankaj Mongiya (21) of Rajasthan who were serving a jail term of 10 years under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Dubelal Dhurve (19) of Mandla in Madhya Pradesh who was sentenced to 10 years in jail for rape and Lekharam Babri (29) of Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh who was serving a jail term of 10 years for murder.

Official sources said that the four inmates, lodged in one barrack, cut through the grills of the barrack and then climbed through the outer wall of the jail with the help of a rope, possibly thrown from outside.  The jailbreak took place between 4 am and 5 am. According to Inspector General of Ujjain Range Rakesh Gupta, a high alert has been sounded in Neemuch and adjoining districts of MP, besides adjoining Rajasthan to track and nab the four jail escapers.

The Madhya Pradesh Jail department has ordered an administrative probe into the matter and the four fugitives are now carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 reach, said DG Jail Sanjay Chaudhary.
