Bhopal: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister, Pradyumna Singh Tomar has said that an amount of Rs 11,500 crore has been paid to farmers of the state under Rabi procurement 2019. He said that this year, record 73.60 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. Tomar instructed the officials to deposit the pending amount in the accounts of farmers immediately during the review of Rabi procurement.

Food Minister Tomar said that efforts should be made to accelerate the efforts for immediate payment of amount of crop sale to farmers. Tomar told that special arrangements were made for the procurement of Rabi crops this year. Arrangements were made by the state government to purchase electronic weighing machines, prior information of the purchase to the farmers and online transfer of the crop amount along with increasing the number of procurement centres.

Special arrangements of cool drinking water and sitting were also made for the farmers at all the procurement centres. He said that this year, 73.60 lakh metric tonnes was procured from a record 9.65 lakh farmers, which is a record. Total Rs 13,043 crores is to be paid to farmers. The last date for purchase was May 25. Managing Director of Civil Supplies Corporation Sufia Farooqui was also present during the meeting.
