Bhopal: Family development fairs will be organized at all block headquarters with the objective of population stability in the state from World Population Day July 11 to August 11. Participation of public representatives, social organizations and citizens will be ensured in the fair. Director National Health Mission Chhavi Bharadwaj asked the district collectors to establish inter-departmental coordination for organizing the fair successfully. She told to make effective efforts for population control. She informed that citations will be presented on Independence Day to the best performing service providers and motivators at the family development fair at district level by the Mission.

The activities of Population Day will be implemented in two parts by the National Health Mission. In the first part, Couple Contact Fortnight (Dampatti Sampark Pakhwada) will be celebrated from June 27 to July 10. In this, ANMs, ASHA workers and other field health workers will conduct a door-to-door target couple survey.

In this, beneficiaries will be identified and motivated to adopt a permanent and temporary family planning tool. The list of target couples will be displayed at the Arogya Kendra. In the second part of activities during the population stability month from July 11 to August 11, the marked beneficiaries will be provided family planning services.

Mission Director said that incentives will be given to both the motivator and the beneficiary to promote permanent methods in the family welfare programme. In the family development districts, Rs 3 thousand will be given to male beneficiaries for vasectomy and Rs 400 to the motivator, for general female tubectomy Rs 2,000 will be given to the beneficiary and Rs 300 to the motivator and Rs 3,000 will be given to the female on sterilization within seven days of delivery and Rs 400 to the motivator.
