Bhopal: Food and Civil Supplies Minister and in-charge of Burhanpur district Kunwar Vijay Shah has said that the country would develop only when villages are developed. Keeping this in view Gramodaya Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan is being conducted. Under it, partnership of villagers in formulating development plans for villages will be ensured. Kunwar Shah was addressing a Gram Sansad at Aseergarh in Burhanpur district today. Nepanagar MLA Rajendra Dadu was also present on the occasion. The Minister said that the state government has implemented a number of schemes for welfare of the poor. Wheat, rice and salt is being provided to poor families at Re one per kg.
He urged villagers to avail benefit of schemes by becoming aware. The Minister also inspected ongoing works under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme. At a meeting of district planning committee, the Minister said that old and small water bodies should be developed.
For this, he directed to chalk out an action plan at district level. Former Minister Archana Chitnis informed farm-ponds have been developed in a number of villages by motivating farmers, where rainwater will be conserved. Information about progress of works under Gramodaya Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan was also given at the meeting. The Minister inspected ongoing preservation works at ancient Aseergarh Fort. He directed to install solar lamps in the fort.
