Bhopal: Addressing an award distribution programme organized at Raj Bhavan in Tuesday on the occasion of the 150th Gandhi Jayanti, Governor Anandiben Patel said that parents should encourage children to develop reading habit since childhood and should give them general knowledge. She said that a book based on the paintings of students and speeches of the students taking part in the competition will be published. She suggested the teachers to get book based on the paintings and speeches participating in the competition in the schools published. This effort will inspire children to take admission in school in future.

Patel said that parents should inspire children to use mobile phones in a controlled manner. They should try to change the habit of excessive use of mobiles in children. Parents should confine the use of mobiles by children to subject of study and fix time. She said that they should make the children understand the ill-effects of the excessive use of cellphones. Parents should also minimize use of mobiles.

The Governor distributed trophies and certificates to children of Raj Bhavan employees and officials and students from various schools who took part in speech, debates and painting competitions. Prizes were given to winners based on a survey conducted of cleanliness of the houses of Raj Bhavan employees and officials under cleanliness campaign. The competition was organized with the support of the School Education Department. Secretary to the Governor DD Agrawal, School Education Department officials, senior Raj Bhavan officers, teachers and parents were present on the occasion.
