Bhopal: Minister for Urban Development and Housing Maya Singh said that roads under guarantee period should be identified and send notice to the concerned contractors for their replies. She also said that zonal officers and engineers should be made accountable for roads and other construction activities in their respective areas. She was reviewing the condition of roads of Bhopal and dilapidated buildings here today. Mayor of Bhopal Alok Sharma was present in the meeting. Minister Singh said that a special attention must be paid towards the quality of roads. Maintenance of roads must be ensured by the concerned contractors which are under guarantee period.
Urban body should keep an eye over these roads and should forfeit security deposit and initiate action to black list them. Singh asserted that in order to maintain quality, it is must to make the employees of the urban body accountable. She asked to make the zonal officers and engineers accountable for the construction works being carried out in their areas. In case of negligence, stern action must be taken against the concerned person.
Maya Singh said that bad condition of roads is a serious matter. It is directly related to the citizens and no flaw will be tolerated. She further added that the state government invests money on constructions which people pay as tax. Amount should be utilized with utmost transparency to facilitate the citizens and this must be ensured by the urban bodies.
Singh said that the places should be identified which faced water logging problems in the past and drainage arrangement should be made to get rid of such situation in case of rains. She gave directives to control encroachment activities strictly on that occasion. She also apprised herself with the condition of dilapidated buildings in the capital. List should be prepared for such buildings and necessary action must be initiated to avoid accidents, she added.
Commissioner Urban Development Vivek Agarwal said that urban bodies should identified roads which need renewing after 5 years. Commissioner Municipal Corporation Bhopal Chhavi Bhardwaj informed about the roads condition of Bhopal. She said that the corporation is working with sincerity and eagerness to improve the roads condition.
