Bhopal: Chief Minister Kamal Nath will inaugurate the ‘Madhya Pradesh Steam Conference’ based on the International System of Education ‘STEAM’ (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) at Minto Hall at 10 am on October 30. The Minister for School Education Prabhuram Chaudhary will preside over the opening session. The Chief Secretary SR Mohanty will be a special guest. About 400 subject experts and academicians from across the country and abroad will take part in the conference.
The Steam Education System, which started from the US, has been adopted by the world’s major countries Russia, Finland, UK and South Korea. In Madhya Pradesh, the steam conference is being organised as part of efforts for quality education. Madhya Pradesh will probably be the first state in the country to hold this conference. The steam education system aims to connect children with art and mathematics along with science and technology from elementary classes, so that children’s imagination power as well as subject expertise could be developed and to enable them to acquire hi-tech knowledge and develop a tendency to learn while practicing.
At the two-day conference being organized by the Department of School Education in collaboration with the ‘Life’ institution of Bengaluru on October 30 and 31, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of STEAM Education Georgette Yakman, Jayanti Tambe Roy- Professor of Child Development and Education of De Anza College-California USA, Arpana Atray-Founder of Story Triangle Foundation, Sumita Malik-Head of Department of Child Education of Shiv Nadar Foundation, Musician Kartik Raman associated with the curriculum development at Shankar Mahadevan Academy and Shahin Shahibole-Head of Department of STEAM Research Lab will give presentations and lectures in various sessions as the keynote speakers.
The conference will be attended by the national and international speakers, subject experts, policy makers, heads of government schools and institutions, including heads of CBSE, ICSE and schools of Madhya Pradesh Board.
