Bhopal: In view of heavy rains in the State, the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday asked the officers to keep strict vigil on the situation in the areas reporting heavy rains and ensure availability of adequate stock of medicines in the floodaffected areas to avert the possibility of outbreak of diseases. Reviewing the flood situation across the state today, the Chief Minister gave instructions to start survey of loss immediately after the flood water recedes in the affected areas.
The Chief Minister asked the concerning authorities not to release water from dams in the affected areas. If needed, people should be intimated in advance.
He also asked the officers concerned to conduct survey of the families residing in the low-lying areas and chalk out action plan for their resettlement at safer places.
It was informed that 35 villages of Rewa district and 62 of Satna are badly hit while 41 of Panna have been marooned.
As many as 4215 persons have been rescued safely. Three rivers of Satna-Tamas, Simrawal and Chhoti Tamas are over flowing. Six local areas of Rewa have been badly hit. In last 20 hours, 550 persons have been rescued. Similarly, 505 persons of Jawa and Tyonthar Tehsils have also been rescued safely. A total of 1550 persons in Rewa district have been saved. Besides, 144 in Panna district have been evacuated.
Three teams of NDRF and 12 of SDRF are carrying out rescue operations in the affected areas and 33 DRC are also in operation. Army has been deployed. Two helicopters have been kept at Satna to facilitate rescue operations and 30 motorboats are taking the people to the safer places. In Rewa, as many as 38 relief camps have given shelter to 3500 affected persons while in Satna 26 camps are having 2500 persons and 100 persons are staying in three camps in Panna.
In last 24 hours, 15 persons including 7 of Rahatgarh while 2 in Katni died due to collapse of houses and three persons each in Chhatarpur and Sanchi were washed away. The Chief Minister announced relief assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of victims. Relief operations are underway on a war-footing.
