Bhopal: Revenue, Science and Technology Minister Umashankar Gupta said that the budget of the Sports Department has increased from Rs 5 crore to Rs 500 crore in ten years. Gupta was speaking at the inauguration of the Mahila Vidhayak Trophy at Saraswati Nagar Ground. Competitions including Chair Race, Tug-of-War, Spoon Race and Matkiphod were organised. Gupta said it is the result of the increase in sports budget that the state has acquired 116 medals in national games this year. He said that some or the other game should continue be held in the assembly area. Gupta said that the workers should take interest in some creative works apart from politics. He said that the Anand Mantralaya was constituted to bring a smile on faces.

Local Corporator Jagdish Yadav said that the winners of each sport will be given Rs 501, Rs 251 to the second winner an Rs 101 to the winner of the third position. He said that this competition will be held every year. Local people’s representatives were also present.

Meanwhile, the Revenue, Science and Technology Minister performed bhoomi-poojan of a cement concrete road near Madhuram Sweets in Ward 29. Gupta issued instructions to get the work completed within the prescribed time limit. Local people’s representatives were also present.
