Bhopal: Dr Sarman Singh who assumed office as the new Director of the institution on Monday announced that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal would have an internal court to settle grievances at institute level and avoid potential legal wrangles outside. Dr Singh till now worked in different capacities for last 30 years at AIIMS New Delhi and has 13 prestigious national and international awards to his name.

While talking to media persons here on Monday, Dr Singh said that in the proposed Grievance Redressal Cell, both the aggrieved parties would be offered lawyers for presenting their sides, said the director claiming he would hear the contentious issues once every month at a fixed date.

The legal issues not only bring bad name to the institution but also lead to wastage of money and I hope 90 per cent issues would be settled at the internal court, opined Dr Singh who has seven patents to his name and features as member in over one and a half dozen leading science and technology bodies in the country.

Regarding his priorities in Bhopal, Dr Singh stated that he would like to develop AIIMS Delhi like work culture in Bhopal where dedication and commitment are primary driving force for the physicians and money takes the back seat.

Perhaps aware of the political interference in the functioning of AIIMS Bhopal, Dr Singh made it clear that he would make sure political fraternity is given their due respect in accordance with the protocol but made it clear that he will make sure no undue interference in institution functioning is made and the premier health organization works as an autonomous body.
