Bhopal: Governor Lalji Tandon said at the 59th convocation ceremony of the National Academy of Medical Sciences India at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, that the ancient medical system of India has been very rich. Modern medical practice has been given a new look in many countries on this basis.
He told the doctors that medical research should be undertaken in harmony with the ancient Indian system of medicine. On the occasion, the Governor awarded Dr PK Dave and Dr Prema Ramachandran with Lifetime Achievement Awards for the year 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Tandon said that due to adulteration of food items in changing times, people are falling prey to new fatal diseases. He said that the effect of antibiotics is also constantly reducing which is a matter of concern. The Governor laid emphasis on improving medical system as well as the lifestyle of human beings. He said that by doing this we can make our country a fully healthy nation.
The Governor congratulated the doctors conducting research in the field of medicine. He expressed the hope that new research works will accelerate service to humanity. The Governor urged the doctors to continue their profession as a mission. Governor Tandon released a souvenir published on the occasion.
Director AIIMS Dr Sarman Singh said that Bhopal AIIMS Hospital was established in the year 2012. Since then, this institute is constantly ready to serve the common man. He said that AIIMS Hospital has 960 beds and 155 faculty working in it. OPD facility is being provided to about 1500 patients every day. President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Prof Saroj Churamani Gopal said that research facilities are being made available to doctors from all over the country through the academy.
