Bhopal: All government departments in the state will appoint nodal officers for National Electoral Roll Purification Campaign and drive for rationalisation of polling booths being undertaken on the directives of Election Commission of India. CEO office has written letters in this regard to all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries. CEO Saleena Singh has said that cooperation of all government departments is vital for completing the national level campaign within the time-limit. For this, departments have been asked to appoint nodal officers of Deputy Secretaries/Under Secretaries/Section Officers and officers of the same rank working in offices of heads of departments. Nodal officers will ensure compliance of directives issued by the Commission from time to time in their departments.

Nodal officers will motivate officers-employees to get rectified error regarding them names in electoral rolls, ensure filling of form-8 for this and send the same to district collectors. The CEO has asked officers-employees to become partners in the campaign and help in purification of voter IDs of their family members, people around them, friends etc. Departmental heads have been asked to verify that IDs of their officers-employees are correct and cooperate in this national level work by sending its status report.

It is noteworthy that Election Commission of India has launched special campaign for National Electoral Roll Purification and rationalisation of polling booths from March 1. It would continue till August 31.
