Bhopal: Observing that happiness could not be found in objects but is inherent in human nature, Joonapeethadheeshwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri on Saturday urged the Madhya Pradesh government to strive in the direction of taking people to their fundamental nature. Through the recently-created Happiness Department and programmes such as ‘Lok Manthan’, I urge the regime to look for ways that would enable people to return to their nature and find true happiness, said Swami Avdheshanand Giri.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the three-day Lok Manthan programme aimed at deliberating at finding means to get rid of colonial mindset at the Vidhan Sabha premises here. Swami Avdheshanand Giri, who was the chief guest on the occasion, lamented that the tendency to consume has gripped people and their strength to fight ailments has diminished.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan pointed out that India is an ancient country that has illuminated the world through its knowledge. However, after Independence, the country adopted western lifestyle, which could not do well even for its progenitors.
