Provide 41,000 metric tonne sugar soon
Bhopal: The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar to make available 41,000 metric tonne of levy sugar soon to Madhya Pradesh from the sugar mills. He mentioned that this sugar had been allotted to the state by the Government of India under the Public Distribution System. In a letter sent today to the Union Agriculture Minister in this connection, the Chief Minister Chouhan has said that the Government of India should import more quantity of sugar in order to make it available to the common people at fair price.
40 lakh quintal sugar quota for MP
Bhopal: The strict enforcement of the Madhya Pradesh Sugar Control Order all across the state has frustrated the evil designs of black-marketeers and hoarders of sugar in the last two months. Now, the sugar hoarders finding themselves hard-pressed in the wake of Sugar Control Order has left no other option before them but to indulging in hatching a vicious plot to create artificial shortage of sugar in the market.
Sugar traders on strike from Oct 1
Bhopal: Annoyed over state government's ongoing drive against them, Madhya Pradesh sugar traders have decided to down their shutters indefinitely from October 1. “All the wholesales and retail sugar traders have decided to stop doing business indefinitely from October 1 in protest against state government officials' raids and seizure of the sugar, which is going to the auctioned,” Madhya Pradesh Sugar Traders Federation President, Ramesh Khandelwal told here today.
Pat over action against hoarders
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of has received a pat on the back from Congress president Sonia Gandhi for his action against hoarders, official sources said. Chouhan is buoyed up by the Congress chief’s praise for his measures against sugar hoarders and is now mulling the idea of starting a helpline for people to complain against hoarders and officials. At a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) last week, Sonia Gandhi praised Chouhan for taking action against hoarders and hoped that Congress-ruled states would follow suit.
Drive against illegal stock of sugar
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has launched special drive against illegal stock of sugar. A large stock of sugar that was to be distributed in different parts of the state was raided in Indore on Thursday night. In a drive against hoarders, over 8,200 quintal of sugar worth about Rs 2.5 crore was seized during raids in Madhya Pradesh.
